Highschool Homeschool Football

This is from Nathan Soule nsoule@cla-du.org, CLA Head Varsity Football Coach, Christian Leadership Academy Football

You are receiving this note because you have expressed interest in our
Varsity football team at Christian Leadership Academy in Troy. As you may
know we are planning a kick–off season this upcoming school-year 2008.

Let me recap just a bit of background before I request some information from
you. First, I am a teacher, athletic director and coach here at Christian
Leadership Academy in Troy (We are the only classical Christian school in
southeast Michigan-please check out our website by clicking on the link
above if you’d like to see what we’re all about.) Sports have become more
and more popular here recently and parents want their children to have more
opportunities. Our school board has concurrently begun taking steps to grow
and continuously improve our school by offering new programs-this year its
football.

By recruiting homeschooled and other high school students/players in the
area, we hope to build a strong and competitive team allowing our students
to play football even during our growth phase while also allowing
homeschooled students the chance to play football they might not otherwise
have.

I can tell you that our parents, school-board and I are committed to making
this team become a reality. Currently when we include our players and the
numbers of prospective players (homeschooled, private and some local public)
we are close to our hopeful minimum team number of 25. If many more beyond
that want to play, we will give priority to the first-committed; we also
hope to avoid cuts. For now though we are still recruiting players and we
need real commitments right away from this minimum group to ensure we can
move forward.

We have already taken some important steps-we have a practice field, a
schedule in the works with a playoff system, and kids who are more than
ready to play. I need to emphasize the importance of our affiliation with
CFL-MI (Michigan Christian Football League). The organizers are planning
schedules, game locations and playoff options and assisting in receiving
discounted equipment. But although CFL-MI serves as a foundation for our
purpose of being a distinctly Christian football community, it is imperative
that local teams develop their own identities, and team focus. In fact,
without local commitment by teams across the state, this league couldn’t
exist. I am eager to join together with you in our local commitment with
those who understand this vision. Let’s make a great team!

As more information becomes available to me next week regarding logistics of
our team including finances, equipment, and scheduling, I’d like to schedule
a meeting the week of May 12th here at Christian Leadership Academy. On the
following page please indicate your interest. Also please feel free to
contact me at any time for any reason.

Sincerely,

Nathan Soule
