Spelling Bee

Homeschool Connections will be hosting a Spelling Bee on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at 2:00 pm. The bee will be held at the Rochester Hills Public Library and all homeschoolers in Oakland or Macomb Counties are welcome to participate. The winner will go on to represent homeschoolers at the Oakland County Regional Scripps Spelling Bee. Any homeschooler in the 5th through 8th grade is welcome to participate.

They also welcome younger students to participate, although they are not eligible to proceed to the Regional Spelling Bee. Their words will be chosen from age-appropriate lists.

Many of you have already contacted Dawn about the participation of your child/children. However, those of you who have children who are interested in participating and have not contacted her previously, please email her to let me know their names and ages. She needs to have the names of all participants ahead of time.

Spelling bee words will be chosen from the list: http://www.myspellit.com/ on the Scripps web site. If you have children younger than 5th grade who wish to participate, please email Dawn and she will send you the word lists for younger children as those are not available online.

Do not hesitate to email Dawn Schell djshomeschooler@yahoo.com if you have any additional questions.
