And Still We Rise is a new permanent exhibit which features Benin market, slave dungeon, two-tier slave ship, Annapolis Warf streetscape (circa 1780s), dwelling on a southern plantation, Ford Rouge Plant, businesses in Detroit’s famed Black Bottom, an homage to Detroit churches, a walk up Woodward Avenue (circa 1960s).

Abraham Lincoln: Self-Made In America Bicentennial Tour
The “Abraham Lincoln: Self-Made In America” Bicentennial Tour a mobile museum exhibit was developed by the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (ALPLM) in Springfield, Illinois. The exhibit is free of charge to the public and will travel the United States over the next two years inspiring visitors with the story of Lincoln’s life and accomplishments. The only exhibit of its type in the country, the mobile museum uses an engaging mixture of interactive elements, graphics, facsimile documents and artifacts inside a 53-foot long, double expandable trailer to commemorate the Lincoln Bicentennial. The exhibition examines Lincoln’s life from his poor beginnings to his ascension to the presidency and his assassination.…

Piecin’ It Together at the MAAH
In keeping with our strong and growing commitment to jazz education, the Detroit Jazz Fest is partnering with the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History (MAAH) to present Piecin’ It Together – Jazz, Stories, Kids, Quilts, on July 18, 2008, in the multi-purpose room of the MAAH. The program features vocalist/storyteller Lisa Henry and the Marion Hayden Trio. All are welcome, but note that the program is intended for children ages 2-7. Performance times are 10 AM, noon, and 2 PM. Admission is free, but reservations are a must. For reservations, contact the MAAH at 313-494-5800.
